MEET THE CHEFS

For chefs Donovan Fraser and Zach Crosby, Chophouse Grille is more than a new restaurant—it’s a return to where their story together began.

The two first met and built their culinary careers right here in Ogunquit at Five-O Shore Road, serving as Executive Chef and Sous Chef from the mid-2000s through the mid-2010s. Working alongside former owners Jeff Porter and Donato Tramuto, Donovan and Zach helped shape Five-O into one of Ogunquit’s must-visit dining destinations.

Their roots on Shore Road grew even deeper when they helped conceptualize and open Caffè Prego next door at 44 Shore Road. Years later, Donovan and Zach became owners of Caffè Prego themselves. Now entering their sixth year as 50/50 partners, they have transformed the restaurant while preserving the welcoming character that made it a local favorite—renovating the interior, expanding patio seating, adding an indoor/outdoor bar and growing the business for both locals and visitors.

Their partnership works because each brings a different strength to the table. Donovan leads culinary operations and the back of house, while Zach oversees the front of house and broader business operations. Together, they collaborate on menus, seasonal specials and new ideas, creating dining experiences that feel fresh while staying true to Ogunquit.

With more than 20 years of experience in Ogunquit’s hospitality industry, Donovan and Zach understand this community, its visitors and what makes a restaurant here special. Now, their journey brings them back to the same Shore Road building where they first worked together.

Chophouse Grille marks an exciting new chapter—built on decades of experience, a shared passion for great food and hospitality, and deep roots in Ogunquit.
