Make Friday nights at Chophouse Grille a little more memorable with live jazz piano from Sal Hughes, every Friday from 6–8 PM.

Sal is an accomplished jazz pianist and composer who began his professional career at just 15 years old, performing at Caffè Prego in Ogunquit, Maine, where he went on to maintain a residency for 10 years.

Since then, Sal has become a familiar presence throughout the Seacoast music scene, performing at venues including Anchorage by the Sea, Stage Neck Inn, The Cliff House and Rudi’s Wine Bar in Portsmouth, where he held a jazz brunch residency for more than five years.

At 21, Sal released an album of original music, Between Worlds. One of its tracks, “One Wish Left,” was later selected for the Portsmouth jazz compilation A Tiny Bit Huge. His music brings together influences from across different musical landscapes, creating a style distinctly his own.

Beyond performing, Sal is deeply involved in the local community, accompanying high school musicals and choirs, church services and community events. He currently serves as Music Director at Kittery Point UCC and is an affiliate of The North Church in Portsmouth.
